About the Role

We are seeking an experienced and proactive Library Coordinator to support the strategic and operational management of the Walton Library and broader MLC Libraries team. This role oversees daily library operations, coordinates staffing across library areas, leads the Library technician team, and contributes to the development and maintenance of high‑quality physical and digital collections. The position also manages library systems, supports staff with training, and champions emerging technologies to enhance user experience.

You will work closely with teacher librarians, technicians, students, and College staff, providing a professional, friendly, and solutions‑focused service at all times.


Key Responsibilities

* Support the Director of Libraries with strategic planning and operational management.
* Oversee the development and maintenance of library collections across physical and digital formats.
* Coordinate staffing and rostering across all library areas, including replacements.
* Lead the Library technician team and manage day‑to‑day operations.
* Administer and maintain library management systems, including circulation, cataloguing, configurations, and analytics.
* Provide training and support to library and College staff on library systems and digital tools.
* Manage overdue, billing, and resource return processes.
* Coordinate annual stock‑take activities and reporting.
* Liaise with internal and external stakeholders to support technology improvements and library initiatives.
* Supervise industry placement students and support library programs for students with special needs or work experience placements.
* Stay current with emerging technologies and integrate them into library services.
* Ensure digital resource security and data privacy in partnership with the College's IT department.


About You


Essential

* Diploma or post‑secondary qualification in Library and Information Services and/or eligibility for ALIA membership.
* Strong leadership and team‑coordination skills, with a collaborative and inclusive approach.
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to build strong relationships across the College community.
* Advanced cataloguing skills (copy and original).
* Extensive experience with library management systems, particularly circulation and cataloguing modules.
* High‑level computer literacy (Office 365).
* Experience creating and editing LibGuides and strong digital research skills.
* Strong organisational skills, attention to detail, and ability to manage competing tasks.
* Demonstrated professionalism, confidentiality, and alignment with Child Safe Standards.
* Current Working With Children Check.


Desirable

* Experience with OCLC WorldShare LMS.
* Experience cataloguing in a school library environment.
* Interest in children's and young adult literature.
* Enjoyment of creative, makerspace, or project‑based activities.
* Strong interest in emerging technologies relevant to libraries.
