Located within the grounds ofDiaco's Garden Nursery in Heatherton, we lean toward garden-to-plate homestyle cooking from the heart with our guests being able to enjoy fresh ingredients sourced directly from our adjacent garden.
The Role
We are seeking a passionate, boundlessly enthusiastic, creative, and skilled Cook/Chef to join our team full-time.
This is a unique opportunity to work in a very creative environment where fresh produce is at the forefront of all of our cooking, and to play a key role in crafting beautifully presented and prepared homestyle cooking.
Key Responsibilities
Oversee all kitchen operations, ensuring food quality and timely service.
Work with the team to plan and update the menu, keeping in mind budget constraints and the availability of seasonal ingredients.
Work alongside kitchen staff, offering guidance and training as necessary.
Maintain high standards of cleanliness, safety, and sanitation in the kitchen.
Manage inventory and place orders to ensure stock levels are maintained.
Stay up-to-date with industry trends, incorporating them into our offerings.
Accommodate guests with allergies or specific dietary needs by adjusting food items as necessary.
Work closely with front-of-house staff to ensure seamless service.
Prepare and present dishes that reflect both beauty and flavour.
Communicate regularly with the café owner to discuss improvements and customer feedback.
About You
Experience working in a busy kitchen environment.
Certificate III and IV in Commercial Cooking.
Passion for the hospitality industry with a strong focus on customer satisfaction.
Excellent communication skills with the ability to work effectively in a team.
Flexibility to work weekdays and weekends, with a commitment to excellence even under pressure.
Well-presented and professional demeanour.
A keen understanding of OH&S and food hygiene requirements.
Creativity and a boundless love for cooking, leaning towards Italian cuisine.
