About the Role
The Commercial Manager is a critical leadership role responsible for driving commercial performance across TTW's project portfolio.
This role sits at the centre of the business, bridging strategy and execution, and is accountable for embedding commercial discipline, pricing rigour, and financial accountability into day‐to‐day project delivery.
The role will operationalise TTW's commercial frameworks, including the Project Health Card, to deliver measurable improvements in project margin, cash flow, and overall business performance.
Acting as a trusted advisor to Directors and Project Leads, the Commercial Manager will provide constructive challenge, commercial insight, and hands‐on support, ensuring that commercial outcomes are actively managed, not passively reported.
What you will do
Project Performance & Commercial Uplift
* Lead the implementation and ongoing management of theProject Health Card.
* Establish governance, reporting cadence, and accountability mechanisms for project performance, both through the PHC and other industry best practice mechanisms.
* Identifyunderperforming projects early and work withDirectorsto implement corrective actions
* Drive continuous improvement in project margin, productivity, and cost control
Pricing & Fee Setting Excellence
* Establish and embed best‐practice fee setting and pricing frameworks across TTW, supporting Directors and Project Leads in scoping, pricing, and commercial negotiation
* Develop tools, templates, and guidance to uplift commercial capability across the business
* Ensure alignment between pricing assumptions and actual delivery outcomes
WIP, Billing & Cash Flow Management
* Drive improved WIP management, billing discipline, and cash conversion
* Reduce revenue leakage through stronger commercial oversight and processes
* Establish clear accountability fortimelyinvoicing and debt collection
* Partner with Finance to ensure alignment between operational activity and financial reporting
* Act as a partner to Project Leads in managing client relationships from a financial perspective
* Support negotiation of variations, claims, and scope changes
* Ensure that project teams proactively manage commercial risks and opportunities throughout the project lifecycle
Contracts & Legal Interface
* Work closely with the Legal & Contracts Manager to ensure strong alignment between commercial and contractual positions
* Support Project Leads in understanding and managing contractual obligations and risks
* Ensure commercial considerations are embedded in contract negotiation and execution
Capability Building & Leadership
* Develop the Financial Planning Analyst into a commercially focused, operationally capable resource
* Uplift commercial capability across Project Leads and Directors through coaching, tools, and training
* Promote a culture of ownership, accountability, and commercial awareness, acting as a visible and credible leader within the business
Commercial Governance & Reporting
* Establish andmaintainclear commercial governance frameworks across projects
* Provide regular reporting and insights to the CFO and Executive team
* Contribute to broader business initiatives relating to performance improvement and growth
What are we looking for?
* Degree in Commerce, Finance, Engineering, or a related discipline. CA / CPA or equivalent qualification preferred but not essential
* Demonstrated experience in a commercial, project finance, or operational role within engineering consulting, professional services, or a project‐based environment
* Demonstrated experience improving project financial performance and commercial outcomes
* Strong understanding of project lifecycles, pricing, and delivery models
* Proven ability to influence and challenge senior stakeholders
* Experience implementing performance frameworks, reporting tools, or data‐driven decision‐making systems
* Strong commercial acumen with the ability to translate financial data into actionable insights
