SimplifyLaw is a Sydney-based corporate and commercial legal advisory practice focused on startups, founders and SMEs operating across Australia and the broader Asia-Pacific region.
The practice provides practical legal support to growing businesses, including corporate structuring, commercial contracting, investment transactions and cross-border advisory matters. SimplifyLaw combines legal expertise with strong understanding of regional business environments, particularly those involving Australia, Hong Kong and Greater China.
As part of its long-term development, SimplifyLaw is building a collaborative advisory platform connecting experienced corporate lawyers across Australia and other APAC jurisdictions to support clients with cross-border legal needs.
Role Description
This is a remote consulting opportunity for experienced Corporate & Commercial Lawyers who wish to practise with greater autonomy while participating in a collaborative regional advisory network.
Consulting Principals operate with flexibility in how and where they work, while contributing their expertise to corporate and commercial advisory matters involving Australian and cross-border business activities.
Typical areas of work may include:
* Commercial contracts and advisory work
* Mergers and acquisitions (SME and mid-market)
* Investment transactions and shareholder arrangements
* Cross-border transactions involving Australia and APAC jurisdictions
* Strategic legal advisory for startups and growing businesses
* Commercial dispute advisory where appropriate
* Corporate structuring and governance
The platform operates on a collaborative and independent practice model, allowing experienced lawyers to maintain professional autonomy while benefiting from regional collaboration opportunities.
Fee Structure
Consulting Principals retain a substantial share of their billings under a transparent fee-split structure reflecting client origination and matter responsibility.
The structure is designed to support experienced lawyers who value flexibility, autonomy and the opportunity to collaborate on regional corporate advisory matters.
Existing client relationships are welcome but not required.
Qualifications
* Admittion as a solicitor or attorney in Australia, Hong Kong, Singapore, or another APAC/Commonwealth jurisdiction. Lawyers admitted in Australia, Hong Kong, Singapore or other APAC/Commonwealth jurisdictions are welcome to apply.
* Strong experience in corporate and commercial law
* Experience advising startups, founders, SMEs or growth-stage businesses
* Experience in cross-border transactions is desirable
* Strong contract drafting and negotiation skills
* Ability to manage client relationships independently
* Entrepreneurial mindset and interest in flexible practice structures
* Bilingual capability in English and Chinese (Cantonese and/or Mandarin) is advantageous but not required.
