Senior Mechanical Project Engineer – Mining / Heavy Industry
Location: Booragoon (6 months) and Huntley Mine thereafter, Dwellingup
Contract: 12 months, strong possibility of extension
Roster: Monday–Friday, 40 hours/week
Rate: $115 to $125 per hour (depending on experience) | Plus Super

About the Role
Execute Mechanical Engineering Scope on Capital Projects
Work on high-risk, multi-year mining and heavy industry capital projects, delivering the mechanical engineering scope across design, installation, and commissioning. This hands‑on role involves coordinating design vendors, managing contractors, and ensuring all mechanical systems meet specification, safety, and regulatory standards. Your expertise will ensure technical excellence on complex industrial sites.

Key Responsibilities
* Deliver and coordinate mechanical engineering scope across capital projects.
* Develop, review, and approve mechanical design documentation, scopes of work, and material take-offs.
* Design and specify mechanical systems, including piping, HVAC, pressure vessels, and rotating equipment.
* Manage design vendors and contractors, ensuring alignment with project requirements.
* Provide technical guidance to multidisciplinary teams during design, installation, commissioning, and troubleshooting.
* Ensure compliance with safety, quality, and regulatory standards, including Australian Standards.
* Collaborate with teams to integrate mechanical systems into overall project design.
* Support design reviews, constructability assessments, and commissioning activities.
Essential Experience & Skills
* Experience on large capital projects in mining or heavy industry.
* Proven ability to manage vendors and contractors.
* Strong technical problem-solving, communication, and stakeholder coordination skills.
* Expertise in mechanical engineering design, installation, and commissioning of complex industrial systems.
* Knowledge of safety, quality, and regulatory compliance.
* Must have full Australian working rights.
Preferred Qualifications
* Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.
* Professional accreditation (Chartered Engineer / CPEng) desirable.
* Experience with mechanical design software and project documentation tools.
