* Matters on which FRV seeks strategic advice
* Any other matter relevant to FRV.
About The Board
The Strategic Advisory Committee (Committee) is a public entity established under the Fire Rescue Victoria Act 1954 (the Act). The Committee will provide expert advice to Fire Rescue Victoria (FRV) on various organisational matters as set out in the Act, including but not limited to:
* Cultural change within FRV
* Workforce diversity and flexibility within FRV
* Organisational governance of FRV
* FRV's engagement and integration with the broader emergency management sector
* FRV's future direction, including emerging opportunities and risks
* Matters on which FRV seeks strategic advice
* Any other matter relevant to FRV.

About The Role
Both Chairperson and members are expected to:
* Deliver expert and authoritative advice on organisational matters to FRV
* Deliver the Committee’s strategic focus as outlined in the Committee’s Terms of Reference
* Contribute to the Committee meetings, including maintaining integrity and good governance principles
* Provide advice to help FRV build its relationship with Government, and other key stakeholders, to help progress FRV's objectives.

Who we're looking for
You will have a proven record in providing considered advice for senior leaders in government on organisational matters, advocacy, partnerships and strategy.
Candidates will be shortlisted based on expertise, qualifications or experience aligned to FRV’s Strategic Pillars, as outlined in FRV’s Strategic Plan 2022-2032, and the Committee’s Strategic Focus.
Skills: Candidates should possess skills in at least two or more of the following areas:
* Strategic and ethical leadership demonstrated through public sector governance, board experience, and/or public administration
* Emergency management / Emergency Service Organisations
* Government Relations – Change and Advocacy
* Matters that affect the future of the service (outside of culture) - financial sustainability, organisational change in the industrial landscape including staff retention, emerging technologies
* Regulations / Built Environment
* Community and stakeholder engagement
Candidates For The Committee Should Also Demonstrate
* Commitment to public service
* Personal integrity, good reputation and community standing, and
* Broad awareness of diversity, cultural, gender, disability and mental health issues.

Eligibility
You cannot be appointed to the Strategic Advisory Committee if you are:
* an officer or employee of a fire services agency
* an officer or employee of an industrial body that is responsible for an enterprise agreement that applies to a fire services agency, or
* an officer or official of Volunteer Fire Brigades Victoria Incorporated.

Applications close at midnight on 8 August 2025.
A selection panel will shortlist applicants and conduct interviews.
Shortlisted candidates will be required to undergo probity checks, including a national police check. They will also be required to declare any private interests and awareness of any potential conflicts of interest. Recommendations of a suitable candidate will be provided to the Minister for Emergency Services for consideration.
Meeting Frequency: The Committee meets four times in a financial year, including any ad hoc meetings as required.
Term Commencement: October 2025
Contract Term Duration: Five years
Meeting Location: Meetings are held at FRV’s Melbourne offices during normal business hours, and it is expected that members attend meetings in person, subject to special support provisions.
