Job description:
Reporting to the Maintenance Superintendent, you will provide technical support across site assets, assist in failure investigations, and work closely with Maintenance and Reliability teams to improve asset performance.This role is suited to someone with strong mechanical aptitude and practical experience in heavy industry. While a Mechanical Engineering degree is preferred, we are open to candidates with associate degrees, engineering technologist qualifications, or significant site-based mechanical experience who can demonstrate sound technical judgement and problem-solving capability.
Key Responsibilities
* Provide mechanical and technical support to dragline and CHPP operations
* Assist in equipment failure investigations and contribute to Root Cause Analysis (RCA)
* Support shutdown planning and technical scopes of work
* Review asset history and performance data within SAP
* Identify improvement opportunities to reduce downtime and improve reliability
* Support engineering standards, drawings and document control processes
* Work collaboratively with trades, supervisors and operations teams
* Promote safe work practices and strong HSE behaviour.
We are looking for someone with practical experience and strong mechanical aptitude that brings relevant experience while remaining grounded, collaborative, curious and team focused with the ability to grow into the role by developing a strong understanding of the site's assets.
* A Degree in Mechanical Engineering (preferred), or
* Associate degree / Engineering Technologist qualification, or
* Trade background with demonstrated technical and analytical capability
You will ideally demonstrate:
* Experience working with large mobile mining equipment (e.g. draglines, excavators, dozers, CHPP)
* Exposure to mechanical systems such as rotating equipment, gearing, pumps, conveyors, or structural components
* Basic understanding of failure analysis and problem-solving methodologies
* Experience using SAP or other Computerised Maintenance Systems (CMS)
* Proficiency in Microsoft Office
* Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively across teams
* Good organisational skills and attention to detail
* Ability to learn
