The Company
We’re partnering with a well-established, privately owned construction business with a strong leadership team and a diverse, high-quality project mix. The business is in a great place and heading into an exciting next phase, with a real focus on building the right leadership and systems to support continued growth.
The Role
This is a hands-on Chief Financial Officer role, combining strategic leadership with day-to-day financial control. Reporting directly to the owners and operating as a key member of the leadership team, you will take ownership of the finance function while working closely with operational leaders on forecasting, job cost reporting and commercial decision-making.
Duties
* Owning the finance function end-to-end, including budgeting, forecasting, month-end reporting and active cashflow management
* Leading WIP, job cost and margin reporting across multiple live projects, ensuring accuracy, visibility and early identification of risk
* Working closely with project and operational teams to challenge assumptions, improve forecasting discipline and support commercial decision-making
* Managing banking relationships, funding facilities and day-to-day cash management, with a strong focus on liquidity and forward planning
* Overseeing financial risk, insurance programs and governance requirements in line with business needs and industry standards
* Leading, mentoring and developing a capable finance team, with the ability to scale systems, processes and headcount as the business continues to grow
The Candidate
* You will be a commercially minded CFO, or a senior Financial Controller ready for the next step, with strong construction industry experience and the ability to remain hands‑on when required.
* Proven experience in construction finance, including job costing and WIP reporting
* Strong cashflow forecasting and financial modelling capability
* Experience working closely with banks, insurers and external advisors
* A collaborative, approachable leadership style suited to a practical environment
* Advanced Excel skills and experience working with construction ERP systems
