A brand new and exciting opportunity has arisen for 1.0 WTE Senior Health Practitioners to join Merseycare's children's services at an innovative point in creating an Intensive Support Team (IST) for Children and Young People with learning disabilities and/or neurodiversity concerns. We are aiming to attract a diverse workforce, including nurses, occupational therapists, and speech and language therapists. We seek enthusiastic, creative team players committed to making a difference in children, young people, and families' lives. Candidates with experience working with CYP with complex needs, mental health issues, learning disabilities, and neurodiversity are preferred.
This team is scheduled to go live in Spring 2025, and candidates are expected to be in post by then. The service will cover Knowsley, St Helens, Halton, and Warrington, with mileage expenses paid. All necessary training will be provided, along with full IT equipment, free onsite parking, hybrid working options, and flexible working arrangements in line with service delivery.

Job Purpose: As a Senior Health Practitioner, you will manage a defined caseload, providing assessment and evidence-based interventions for children and young people (CYP) and their families, within the THRIVE Framework. Responsibilities include undertaking assessments, delivering brief interventions, and providing advice, consultation, and supervision to colleagues and external agencies.

Job responsibilities

Knowledge/Experience
* Experience managing caseloads involving children and young people with complex health needs.
* Experience in a children's community mental health setting.
* Experience delivering evidence-based therapies (e.g., CBT, speech therapy, sensory integration).
* Experience providing supervision.
* Effective communication skills with clients, families, and professionals.
* Experience working with diverse patient groups and handling challenging situations.
* Knowledge of mental health and educational needs of children and adolescents.
* Experience in risk assessments and clinical supervision.
* Proficiency in IT skills and research methodologies.
Qualifications
* Degree in Nursing, Social Work, Occupational Therapy, or Speech and Language Therapy.
* Postgraduate qualification in EMHP, CYWP, PWP, or CBT.
* Professional registration with relevant body.
* Learning Disabilities Nurse qualification.
* Postgraduate courses related to Neurodiversity, Learning Disabilities, or Autism are desirable.
