Engineering Technologist - Cranbourne West Kogan People Solutions is recruiting on behalf of our client, a global leader in providing innovative and reliable power transmission and drive solutions for a wide range of industrial applications, including mining, material handling, and renewable energy.
We are seeking a skilled Engineering Technologist to join their team in Cranbourne West and apply practical engineering expertise to solution design, technical support, and operational implementation.
The role is full time and ongoing.
The role: Engineering Technologist We are looking for a hands-on technical specialist who thrives on applying engineering knowledge to real-world operational challenges.
This role is crucial for ensuring the accurate selection, configuration, and reliable performance of industrial power transmission equipment.
Your Key Responsibilities Will Include: Technical Design Selection: Analyse customer specifications and requirements to select, configure, and specify suitable gearmotors, drive systems, and inverters from an established product portfolio.
Conduct necessary engineering calculations (e.g., torque, ratios, service factors) to confirm optimal component selection and ensure operational reliability.
Technical Support Documentation: Prepare detailed technical documentation and CAD layouts for customer projects, translating selected products into practical installation designs.
Provide pre- and post-sales technical support, engaging with sales teams and customer engineering groups to ensure seamless product integration and commissioning .
Operational Validation Compliance: Perform product testing, validation, and fault analysis to ensure solutions meet performance specifications and adhere to relevant AS/NZS and IEC industry standards .
Manage the technical execution of projects through to commissioning, providing on-site technical guidance for installation and start-up.
Training Improvement: Conduct technical training for internal and external stakeholders on product features, selection processes, and maintenance best practices.
To be considered for interview we expect to see: Highly relevant engineering bachelor's degree or higher qualification Proven experience as an Engineering Technologist in addition to other post graduate experience, ideally with a focus on mechanical power transmission or industrial drive systems.
Strong practical knowledge of gearboxes, motors, and variable speed drives (VSDs).
Ability to conduct technical calculations and read/prepare detailed engineering drawings and specifications.
Familiarity with Australian and international engineering standards.
Strong communication skills to ensure professional and effective client interactions.
Excellent time management skills.
Well developed, verifiable, people management capabilities.
Ability to work under pressure.
