Supp is a rapid-growing jobs platform connecting over 200,000 hospitality professionals with more than 8,000 independent venues across Australia and the US. By harnessing real-time data and technology, we’re tackling some of the industry’s toughest staffing challenges - making life easier for both workers and venues. As we continue to grow, we’re looking for talented people to join us and help shape the future of hospitality.
About the platform
Supp is a agile two-sided marketplace connecting businesses and hospitality professionals in real time.
We use data-driven matching to pair the right candidates with the right opportunities.
More than just a jobs board, we have created a platform that offer management of worker profiles, business listings, payments, reviews & ratings, administration and community.
We’ve only scratched the surface of what’s possible. Our growth has given us a clear view of the huge opportunities ahead - and we’re building fast to make them happen.
The way we work
Size
As a small team, we hire productive, capable people so that we can stay lean and efficient. Fewer meetings, fewer committees. More time building for our customers!
Teamwork
You'll work closely with all team members, from designers and developers to operations staff and founders. Together, we strive to deeply understand our customers' problems and develop innovative solutions. We're looking for someone with both intelligence and empathy who wants to make a positive impact on our team.
Empowerment
We believe great ideas come from everywhere. Here, your voice matters - you’ll have the autonomy to take initiative, the space to innovate, and the opportunity to see your work make a real difference for thousands across the hospitality industry.
Location
We are a fully distributed team. You can work from anywhere - whether that’s Vietnam, Melbourne, Auckland, or beyond. While we prefer candidates within 2–3 hours of the Australia/Melbourne timezone for smoother teamwork, exceptional applicants from further afield are welcome to apply.
Part-time friendly
Looking after children or seeking better work-life balance? We're flexible with schedules ranging from 22 to 38 hours per week.
Must
Have production experience with strong, statically typed languages
Work autonomously, breaking larger goal-driven requirements into a road-map of incremental technical and design changes
Have experience designing APIs and understand deprecation cycles and continuous improvement
Be comfortable designing system components from scratch
Be comfortable articulating technology and development process preferences
Be able to code without LLM assistance and articulate low level and high level design decisions
Should
Be comfortable talking with customer support roles (Support, Sales, etc) to understand the problem domain and apply that knowledge to their work
Understand Event Sourcing or event oriented systems
Be comfortable tracing and reading RPC payloads and mapping those to API surfaces and behaviour
Have experience with containerised deployments (e.g. Kubernetes, Docker)
The Engineering
Our backend platform is event-driven and API-centric (using GraphQL from Kotlin)
We’re looking for people who can work incrementally, consistently building towards long term goals while addressing current needs
We want your input. Your experience and ideas will help guide product, technical and architectural decisions at the API, framework, code and infrastructure levels
We run on an event driven architecture built on the CQRS (Command and Query Responsibility Segregation) pattern
All the API components run on GKE (Google Kubernetes Engine)
The candidate does not need to know Kotlin.
Experience in any statically typed language will help them, e.g. Swift, C#, Golang, Java, Typescript, Haskell, Scala, OCaml, C++, Zig, Rust, Jai, Odin, etc.
We have a dwindling Ruby codebase that we are moving away from.
New work is done in Kotlin.
Candidates without any experience in statically typed languages will take longer to get up to speed and we take that into account when considering applications.
Posting Statement
At Supp, we believe that a small way we can improve the world is by striving for equality. We encourage applications from candidates of all backgrounds, experiences, and perspectives. If you require assistance at any stage of the application process, please let us know.
