You will play a key role in helping inmates gain vital trade experience that prepares them for life post-release.
You are passionate about teaching trade skills and making a difference in people's lives. In this full-time role, you'll deliver and evaluate kitchen trade training to inmates, helping them reintegrate into the community and secure post-release employment.
Based at Clarence Correctional Centre, you'll join the Industries & Trades team and work in a safe, respectful, and inclusive environment.
As a Trade Instructor – Kitchen in the Industries & Trades team, you will make a positive impact by:
* Supervising and supporting inmates in a commercial kitchen environment
* Delivering trade knowledge and vocational training programs
* Promoting rehabilitation through structured daily activities and programs
* Managing kitchen equipment, tools, and safety protocols
* Ensuring compliance with WHS and security requirements
* Monitoring inmate behaviour and reporting on incidents or risks
* Providing input to case management processes
* Implementing training programs and supporting skill development in a workshop environment
* Managing tool and equipment usage including pre-starts and daily audits

To be successful in this role, you will have:
* Certificate III in Commercial Cookery
* Certificate IV in Training & Assessment (or willingness to obtain within 12 months)
* Certificate III in Correctional Practice (or willingness to obtain within 12 months)
* At least 5 years of experience working in kitchens
* Sound knowledge of WHS, commercial kitchen operations, and inmate rehabilitation
* A current driver's licence and the ability to pass relevant security and police checks

Opened in mid-2020, this 1,700-bed state-of-the-art facility is the largest correctional centre in Australia.
