Introduction
Australia's acquisition of conventionally-armed, nuclear-powered submarines is historic and transformational. The Optimal Pathway announced on 14 March 2023, will deliver Australia a world-class capability that will see our nation become one of only seven countries that operate nuclear-powered submarines. This game changing capability will enhance Australia's capacity to deter conflict and support security, peace and economic prosperity in the Indo-Pacific.
This significant undertaking presents an exciting opportunity for dedicated, committed and aspirational leaders to lead, develop and shape the Australian Nuclear Submarine Program.
Your Role
The Program Costing branch head is an SES 1 position that leads a team of cost experts and is accountable for the delivery of:
• Cost estimation services for the NPS Program to ensure that estimates align with Defence Policy, provide an integrated cost view of the Program that is reviewed and quality assured against scope and schedule milestones.
• Agency's financial cost strategy and policy for the NPS program, to assess and assure NPS Program cost estimates to assure affordability and achievability in close consultation and engagement with key stakeholders.
• Strategic program cost advice in order to support funding being sought through Government submissions for the NPS Program.
Reporting to the ASA Chief Financial Officer, you will work in partnership with internal delivery teams and external stakeholders to address program-costing requirements, manage financial risk, and build a resilient ASA financial position that supports the current and future program requirements.
