Laurel House offers a unique opportunity for a Counsellor to provide trauma-informed, evidence-based therapeutic services to victim-survivors of sexual assault.
Key Responsibilities:
* Deliver confidential, client-focused face-to-face and telephone counselling to adults, children, young people, and their support networks affected by sexual violence.
* Monitor client progress, tailoring responses considering diverse backgrounds, attributes, and preferences.
* Conduct culturally sensitive intake assessments and provide information about the organisation's services, supports, options, referrals, and waiting lists.
* Collaborate with other organisations to ensure clients access necessary support, reducing the impact of sexual harm.
* Support victim-survivors through legal and medical processes following recent assaults.
* Perform urgent risk assessments to ensure safety for victim-survivors, children, and young people exhibiting harmful sexual behaviours.
* Provide brief counselling during periods of distress.
* Maintain accurate client records and files, prepare court reports, and serve as a credible witness when required.
* Contribute to planning, implementation, and evaluation of counselling and education programs.
* Participate in outreach, early intervention, and prevention initiatives.
* Advocate for clients' needs within the service system, promoting victim-survivors' voices and resilience.
