ARMAJUN ABORIGINAL HEALTH SERVICE –Armidale (Aboriginal Designated)
Armajun Aboriginal Health Service is looking to recruit a full-time, Alcohol and Other Drug (AOD) Care Navigator to work along side St Vincent de Paul Society.
There is currently an opportunity for a full-time Alcohol and Other Drug (AOD) Care Navigator, to join our team. The aim of the program is to;
* Contribute to a safe working environment for staff, members, and volunteers by implementing the Society's workplace health and safety practices.
* Effectively support people to build their own hope, empowerment, citizenship, and connectedness.
* Contribute to the delivery of the psychoeducation and AOD focused group programs, across a broad geographical area either in person or via virtual care.
* Support the services Intake Screening process and complete intake screens and assessment with people wishing to access the AOD Hub, when required.
* Support and where required, complete comprehensive assessment with people accessing the AOD Hub.

Essential Criteria
Role-specific criteria
• Minimum TAFE Certificate IV in the welfare or related field.
* Identify as Aborigiginal and/or Torres Strait Islander Descent
• Previous experience providing support to marginalised and vulnerable people support to homeless persons
• Demonstrated knowledge of issues relating to alcohol and other drug issues
• Demonstrated awareness of appropriate local community support services for alcohol and other drugs, including government agencies and NGOs, and the capacity to build and maintain strong relationships with such service providers
• Excellent written and oral communication skills.
• Sound computer skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Awareness and understanding of the Work Health and Safety legislation and a commitment to promoting safe work practices.
• Ability to use sound judgement and act appropriately in crisis and emergency situations.
• NSW driver licence.
Desirable Criteria
* Experience working in a member organisation
* Relevant experience working with people form rural and remote communities.
* Relevant experience working with First Nations people.
