St Basil is seeking a dedicated and reliable Cleaning Assistant to support the cleanliness, safety and presentation of our residential aged care facility. This role plays a vital part in ensuring a clean, hygienic and welcoming environment for residents, staff and visitors, while also supporting the broader business with consumables and general duties.
About the Role
You will be responsible for carrying out routine and ad-hoc cleaning across resident rooms, service areas and equipment, ensuring all work is completed to the highest standards in line with Infection Control, WHS and Aged Care regulations.
Key Responsibilities
* Undertake routine and variable cleaning of resident rooms, service areas, general areas and equipment
* Ensure all cleaning practices meet WHS, Infection Control and Aged Care standards and guidelines
* Maintain cleaning storerooms and ensure consumables are adequately stocked
* Monitor the condition and quality of cleaning equipment and report damage or replacement needs
* Record and report any incidents, hazards or safety concerns immediately
* Follow all Emergency Management and evacuation procedures
* Treat all residents and their support networks with dignity, confidentiality and respect
* Contribute positively to the safety, culture and reputation of St Basil
Essential Skills & Experience
* Previous experience in cleaning (aged care, health or similar environment highly regarded)
* Strong knowledge of cleaning chemicals and appropriate surface use
* Ability to work autonomously, set priorities and manage time effectively
* Strong communication skills
* Ability to multitask and work efficiently under pressure
* Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
* Physically capable of undertaking manual handling tasks safely
