Operator Reticulation (Water & Sewer Network Operator)

Organisational Context
east Victoria across an area of 20,000 square kilometres. The service delivery area is bound by Corryong, Yarrawonga,
Benalla and Dartmouth. We operate 21 water treatment facilities and 22 wastewater treatment plants that service most
towns across the region. Over 200 full time equivalent staff are employed at our centres in Wodonga, Wangaratta, Benalla,
Yarrawonga, Corryong, Beechworth, Mount Beauty and Myrtleford.
Our operations are overseen by the Department of Energy, Environment and Climate Action (DEECA) on behalf of the
Minister for Water, and the Department of Treasury and Finance (DTF) on behalf of the Treasurer. We continue to invest in
innovative and long-term capital projects which contribute to the health and well-being of current and future generations.

Position Objectives
The Operator Reticulation:
* Operations: Consistently execute water and wastewater reticulation tasks, ensuring smooth and efficient
operations while minimising disruptions and upholding system integrity to deliver safe drinking water and
compliant wastewater services. Ensure efficient and reliable functioning of the wastewater reticulation systems to
maintain service and reliability to customers, focusing on proactive maintenance and monitoring of sewer pump
stations and reticulation assets to achieve customer service standards.
* Safety & Compliance: Adhere to all safety and hygiene protocols and standards, maintaining a strong record of
safety and compliance in all reticulation operations.
* Team Collaboration & Reporting: Collaborate effectively within the reticulation team, ensuring timely data input
into systems and prompt reporting of operational trends and issues to senior roles
Key Responsibility Areas
* KPIs: Monitor, track, and ensure achievement of set KPIs.
* Operational Execution: Execute daily operations as directed, ensuring consistent water and wastewater reticulation
throughout the region. Monitor systems and promptly address minor issues to ensure optimal performance.
Including participation in a 7-day rotating on call roster.
* Data Entry & Reporting: Input operational data into systems such as AMIS, GIS, and SCADA as required. Provide
initial reporting on any noticeable trends or issues.
* Emergency Assistance: Support the rapid response team during reticulation emergencies, acting swiftly under the
guidance of senior roles to minimise disruptions.
* Routine Maintenance: Carry out scheduled maintenance tasks, inspections, and checks on the water and
wastewater reticulation systems to ensure they are in optimal condition.
* Safety Protocols: Adhere to all Occupational Health and Safety standards and hygienic principles. Report any
safety concerns to the senior operator or coordinator and always ensure personal and team safety.
* Team Collaboration: Work collaboratively with the team, assisting fellow operators and taking guidance from the
Senior Operator and Reticulation Coordinator. Participate in training sessions and team meetings.
* Stakeholder Communication: Report any customer feedback or concerns to the senior operator or coordinator.
Assist in communicating with the public during routine operations or emergencies as needed.
* Resource Management: Efficiently use and maintain equipment, tools, and materials required for reticulation
operations, reporting any damages or needs for replacements.
* Other: Perform overtime and undertake additional tasks as needed, consistent with the role's level and the
individual's skills and experience.
* Asset & Infrastructure Management: Responsible for the operation and fault response to the authorities water
and wastewater reticulation assets including sewer pumpstations.
Organisational Relationships
This role reports to the Coordinator Reticulation and liaises with all internal stakeholders, peers in water corporations or
local government, government agencies and members of the public.
Accountability and Extent of Authority
* Accountability: Responsible for the hands-on execution of water and wastewater reticulation tasks, accurate data
entry, adherence to operational procedures, and maintaining safety standards during daily operations.
* Authority: Execute tasks as instructed. Utilise AMIS, GIS, and SCADA for day-to-day operations and data entry.
Alert senior roles of any system anomalies or potential issues. Contribute to team discussions by providing on-
ground insights and observations. Report any safety concerns immediately and suggest improvements based on
operational experience
Judgement and Decision Making
* Uses judgment to carry out tasks efficiently, ensuring correct data input into AMIS, GIS, and SCADA. Quickly
identifies and reports any operational or data inconsistencies.
* Makes day-to-day decisions based on operational procedures, prioritising safety and the stability of the reticulation
network.
* Relies on training and experience to navigate routine challenges and consults with superiors on more complex
issues
Specialist skills and knowledge
* Knowledge and expertise in water and wastewater reticulation operations.
* Demonstrates capability in conducting routine system checks and data entries, ensuring accurate and efficient
reporting. Familiar with the operation and basic troubleshooting of AMIS, GIS, and SCADA systems.
* Experience operating plant and machinery essential for reticulation activities. Adheres to established safety and
operational standards.

Qualifications and Experience
* Understanding of and/or experience in asset (such as pipes and pumps) and equipment monitoring and
maintenance.
* Understanding of and/or experience in the maintenance of water and sewer networks (is desirable but
not required).
* Current Driver's license is required.
* Current Medium Rigid Truck license (is not required but willingness to obtain is essential).
* High risk work licenses and/or competencies (is not required but willingness to obtain is essential).
