Job Description
Sunflower Taiwanese Gourmet is seeking an experienced Cook to join our busy restaurant in Sydney, NSW. Sunflower Taiwanese Gourmet is a well-established Taiwanese restaurant serving authentic Taiwanese cuisine in Sydney. We are currently seeking an experienced and passionate Cook to join our friendly kitchen team.
Our restaurant is known for its authentic Taiwanese home-style dishes and loyal customer base.
Duties and Responsibilities
* Prepare, season and cook a variety of Taiwanese dishes, including noodle dishes, rice dishes, soups, stir-fries, braised dishes, dumplings and Taiwanese street-food specialties.
* Prepare ingredients by washing, peeling, cutting, marinating and portioning meat, seafood and vegetables.
* Operate commercial kitchen equipment including woks, steamers, grills, fryers and ovens.
* Ensure dishes are prepared and presented in accordance with the restaurant's recipes, quality standards and customer requirements.
* Monitor food quality during preparation and service to maintain consistency and customer satisfaction.
* Store food in temperature-controlled facilities and ensure proper stock rotation and food storage procedures.
* Receive, inspect and monitor kitchen supplies and ingredients to maintain freshness and quality.
* Maintain cleanliness and sanitation of kitchen work areas, equipment and utensils.
* Comply with food safety, hygiene and workplace health and safety regulations.
* Assist in controlling food costs by minimising waste and ensuring effective use of ingredients.
* Coordinate with other kitchen staff to ensure timely preparation and service of meals.
Skills and Experience
* At least 2 years of relevant work experience as a Cook.
* Experience preparing Taiwanese or Asian cuisine is preferred.
* Ability to work in a rapid‐paced kitchen environment.
* Positive communication and teamwork skills.
* Knowledge of food safety and hygiene practices.
