Emmaus College is a co-educational Catholic College in the heart of Rockhampton. The College offers a tailored journey designed to support students at pivotal points in their young lives. Your Role

We are seeking a dynamic, experienced, and passionate individual for the position of First Nations Engagement and Pathways Officer to join the team at Emmaus College, Rockhampton. This is a term time continuing position for 38hpw, for an immediate commencement or as negotiated with the successful applicant.

This position is a school based role guiding students toward meaningful vocational, tertiary and employment pathways with a strong focus on culturally safe practices and First Nations engagement.

The First Nations Engagement and Pathways Officer will service the educational mission of the Catholic Diocese of Rockhampton by providing support to all aspects of Indigenous Education. In doing so, advocate for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students together with their families, communities, teachers and college.

Selection Criteria

The successful applicant should be able to demonstrate:

* A knowledge and understanding of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander histories, cultures and spiritualities.
* An ability to communicate sensitively and effectively with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students, their families and school staff to improve educational outcomes through personalised career guidance, inclusive education planning and strong community collaboration.

Mandatory Requirements

* A current valid Blue Card under the Working with Children (Risk Management and Screening) Act 2000 (WWC Act) and valid Suitability Notice is a requirement of the position.
* Ability to perform the physical requirements of the role in a safe manner.

It is a genuine occupational requirement that this position be filled by First Nation peoples, as permitted and arguable under Section 25 of the Qld Anti-Discrimination Act of 1991. The successful applicant will identify as an Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander person.
