Job Title: Senior Botanist
We are seeking an experienced and skilled Senior Botanist to join our team in Victoria. The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering conservation, impact assessment, and monitoring projects related to vegetation types including grassland, wetland, forest, and woodland communities.
The role involves designing and implementing field-based botanical survey work, including vegetation mapping, ecological monitoring, targeted threatened flora surveys, and Vegetation Quality Assessments using the Habitat Hectares method.
Ecological impact assessments and offsetting will also be a key component of the role, with a focus on various projects from small-scale infrastructure impact assessments to major projects of state significance.
Additionally, the Senior Botanist will be responsible for preparing proposals and technical reports for public and private sector clients, as well as managing both ecology-focused and multi-disciplinary projects.
The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor's Degree in Science with a Botany, Ecology, or Environmental Science major and at least 5 years of experience conducting vegetation surveys in south-east Australia.
Strong botanical identification skills, including experience using dissecting microscopes and identification keys, are essential for this role.
