Sessions: 3 × 5 Day Workshops per Year (School Holidays)
Fee: £1,980 total (see breakdown below)
Rate: £44 per hour

About the Role
Gig In A Week is a holiday programme for S1–S6 pupils, combining songwriting, band development and real-world gig-making, culminating in a youth-led live concert. This project is funded by Youth Music Initiative.
We are seeking songwriting and band tutors with strong facilitation skills and a collaborative approach to working with young people.
The dates are as follows –
SUMMER: Tues 21st July to Sat 25th July 2026
AUTUMN: Mon 12th October to Fri 16th October 2026
SPRING: Tues 13th April to Sat 17th April 2027
Songwriting/Band Tutors will be required for 2.5 hours on days 1, 2, 3 and 4 of the workshop and 5 hours on day 5 for the final performance.
Key Responsibilities
* Support young people to write original music and develop band material
* Facilitate rehearsals and collaborative creative processes
* Encourage experimentation, confidence and teamwork
* Support young people to prepare for live performance
* Work alongside industry professionals delivering gig-making skills
* Mentor and support a Youth Music Trainee
We're Looking For Someone Who:
* Has experience in songwriting, bands or music performance
* Has worked with young people (formal or informal settings)
* Values co-creation and youth-led approaches
* Can adapt to different skill levels and musical interests
* Holds (or is willing to obtain) PVG membership
Payment Information
The total freelance fee for this role is £1,980, based on delivery of three Gig In A Week workshops across the year.
* Each workshop runs over 5 days and includes 15 hours of delivery, paid at £44 per hour
* This equates to £660 per workshop
* Tutors will be paid per workshop on submission of an invoice
All fees are inclusive and aligned with Musicians' Union guidance.
All tutors taking part in our Stirling Sounds projects will have the opportunity to take part in two optional CPD peer training sessions which will be paid and take place throughout the year.
