About the role

The Director, Workforce Capability leads the policy and delivery of state workforce planning, strategies and solutions. You will lead a high performing team to determine priority workforce needs and inform government investment, policy and programs that attract, build and retain the workforce required to achieve South Australia's economic objectives. You will have responsibility for leading state workforce policy and planning, along with targeted industry, regional and cohort focused plans and strategies to address high volume and niche workforce requirements of emerging sectors, major government infrastructure, essential services, and growth industries.

In this role you will foster strong and ongoing partnerships with industry, businesses, government agencies, training and education providers and unions to identify workforce needs, create new talent pipelines and unlock opportunities for workforce attraction, expansion and transformation. You will use data and insights to make sound judgments and use your influence to optimise the State's key workforce enablers.

The role is responsible for leading complex and multi-faceted projects and significant budgets and for providing strategic leadership to the Workforce Capability team.

Over the next 12 months, some of the key deliverables include developing an Aboriginal Workforce Development Plan and an Agriculture, Food and Wine Workforce Strategy; implementing workforce initiatives and programs; building on the internal data modelling and systems capability; and responding to key events and government commitments which impact South Australia's skilled workforce.


Responsibilities

* Lead the State's workforce capability function responsible for delivering accurate and timely workforce analytics, insights and reports and working in partnership with industry to design and implement policy, strategies, and initiatives to grow, build and sustain South Australia's workforce, ensuring diversity is a key feature.
* Lead regular engagement and foster partnerships with industry, the education and training sector, unions and key stakeholders to support the delivery of workforce plans, strategies and projects.
* Collaborate across a range of South Australian government agencies and teams to develop collective policy approaches and solutions to workforce development challenges.
* Leverage Commonwealth Government and industry investment and initiatives to develop South Australia's workforce capabilities and respond to workforce transition and structural adjustment.
* Provide clear strategic and operational direction, make informed decisions, and guide the workforce capability function towards its desired goals while upholding the highest standards of ethical conduct.


Remuneration

Competitive salary SAES1.

Qualifications

Essential: Nil

Desirable: A tertiary qualification in a relevant field or significant experience in a similar role is desirable.


Special Conditions

The role will be offered full-time (1.0 FTE), 12-month term backfill contract.

Satisfactory Department of Human Services Criminal History Check or National Police Check (NPC) required prior to employment.
