About the role:
RSM Katanning is seeking a Graduate Accountant or Accountant to join our Business Advisory team. This role provides hands-on exposure to a broad range of accounting and tax matters, working closely with privately owned businesses, farming enterprises, family groups, and trusts across the Great Southern region.
You will be supported by experienced Directors and Managers, with structured training, mentoring, and clear career progression pathways within a collaborative regional team.
Responsibilities will include or grow to include:
* Preparation of BAS and IAS, including GST, PAYG withholding and instalments
* Preparation of financial statements in accordance with Australian Accounting Standards
* Preparation of individual, partnership, trust and company income tax returns
* Assisting with business tax compliance and ATO lodgements
* Cloud accounting processing and review using Xero, MYOB and QuickBooks
* Assisting with year-end reconciliations, workpapers and supporting schedules
* Liaising with clients to obtain information and respond to queries
* Supporting senior team members with business advisory, budgeting and reporting
* Maintaining accurate records and ensuring compliance with internal and external deadlines
About you:
Essential requirements:
* Bachelor of Commerce, Accounting, Agribusiness or equivalent (completed or near completion for graduates)
* Strong interest in business advisory and tax
* Sound understanding of basic accounting and taxation principles
* High level of attention to detail and organisation
* Strong written and verbal communication skills
* Ability to manage deadlines and prioritise tasks
* Willingness to learn and take feedback on board
Desirable (but not essential):
* Commenced or intending to commence CA or CPA studies
* Experience with cloud accounting software (Xero preferred)
* Previous experience in a public practice or bookkeeping role
* Experience preparing BAS or income tax returns
