Martin Engineering Pty Ltd is a proudly Western Australian owned and operated business, established in Bunbury in 1981. We provide specialised machining, welding, onsite line boring and onsite machining services to mining, forestry and associated industries across WA.
With a reputation for high-quality workmanship and exceptional service, we are a vendor of choice for major mining companies and OEMs. We operate eight fully equipped mobile line boring units, primarily servicing the Southwest, with capability to work statewide and occasional interstate.
The Role
* Due to continued business growth, we are seeking an experienced Senior Tradesperson to join our Bunbury team.
* This role suits someone who excels in both hands-on work and leadership.
* Deliver high-quality line boring and machining services
* Support, guide and mentor tradespeople and apprentices
* Assist with troubleshooting, daily operational problem-solving, and maintaining high safety standards
* Identify opportunities for improved efficiency, capability and work methods
* Contribute to continuous improvement alongside the management team
* This is a key position for someone who takes pride in their craft, communicates well, and enjoys leading by example.
Qualifications & Experience
* Trade qualification in machining and/or welding
* Extensive experience in field machining and line boring (essential)
* Manual driver's licence and reliable transport
* Ability to pass medical, drug & alcohol screening, and obtain a National Police Clearance
* MR or HR truck licence (desirable)
* High Risk Work Licence (desirable)
* Strong problem-solving ability and a proactive, motivated attitude
* Willingness to work overtime at short notice when required
* Ability to travel for short-term jobs, including overnight stays
* Strong commitment to quality, detail and customer satisfaction
* A collaborative mindset and willingness to share skills with the team
Key Responsibilities
* Onsite line boring of mobile and fixed plant equipment
* Onsite XY and slew milling
* General machining in a well-equipped workshop (manual turning, milling, drilling, horizontal borer work, fitting)
* Maintain high standards of safety, quality and housekeeping
* Accurate timekeeping and job scope documentation
* Deliver high-quality results with minimal supervision
* Communicate effectively with clients and team members
* Train apprentices and support other tradespersons
* All uniforms supplied and laundered
* Tooling provided
* Predominantly local work, home most nights with occasional site work as required
