ABOUT OUR CLIENT & THE ROLEOur client is a well established Australian business operating across consumer goods, manufacturing and agribusiness, with a strong national footprint and a growing international presence. Reporting directly to the Group CFO, the Financial Controller plays a pivotal role in leading financial reporting, group consolidation, governance and controls across the business. The role is based in Geelong and works closely with senior leadership to provide insight, drive performance and strengthen financial disciplines across the group.
RESPONSIBILITIES
• Lead the preparation of monthly management accounts including variance analysis and performance insights
• Oversee monthly group consolidation including intercompany reconciliations and eliminations
• Manage month end, half year and year end close processes
• Own cash flow reporting, liquidity monitoring and working capital management
• Review balance sheet reconciliations and ensure compliance with accounting policies
• Lead statutory reporting
• Act as key point of contact with external auditors and advisors
• Prepare financial papers and analysis for Board and Audit and Risk Committee
• Oversee corporate tax compliance and manage transfer pricing requirements
• Maintain and strengthen internal controls and governance frameworks
• Drive continuous process improvement, automation and reporting efficiency
• Lead and develop the accounting, AP, AR and business partnering teams
• Partner with operational leaders across Sales, Operations and People and Culture
• Support budgeting, forecasting and financial analysis processes
• Promote effective use of Power BI dashboards and reporting tools
• Conduct periodic control and process reviews
• Travel regularly to operational sites including regional Victoria locations
SKILLS & EXPERIENCE
• Degree qualified in Finance, Accounting or a related discipline
• CA or CPA qualified
• Proven experience as a Financial Controller or senior finance leader
• Background in consumer, manufacturing or agribusiness environments preferred
• Strong experience in consolidation, cash flow, management and statutory reporting
• Solid understanding of tax compliance and transfer pricing
• Strong ERP and advanced Excel capability
• Demonstrated experience driving automation and system improvements
• Confident leader with strong coaching and team development capability
• Highly organised with strong attention to detail
• Able to build trusted relationships and communicate at executive level
