Campus Intuition
Posted: 15 February
Offer description

Campus Intuition was started in 2018 through a university startup. We have grown from a pilot in Perth to having clients in Australia, Europe and the UK. We work in the higher education sector, advising teams on creation of excellent campus experiences.

We believe that the best way to improve a campus is to make existing spaces work better through understanding what users think of spaces, places and buildings. Using our unique methodology and our Campus Experience Index, a survey tool used on over 50 campuses, we investigate how students and staff actually experience campus facilities. From coding open-ended feedback to running experience-mapping projects with visual diaries, we translate human lived experience into actionable evidence.

Our ethos is to make sure that buildings are being used efficiently and effectively. We don't need the carbon footprint of new buildings when there are many existing spaces that just need to be improved. University leaders talk about listening to the student voice - we have become a mechanism for them to put changes in place based on feedback.

Universities are using our findings to plan their spending more forensically across their estates. Many come back to us to re-survey and evaluate their progress. Clients include University of Melbourne, University of Sydney, University of Tasmania, University of Western Australia, ECU, James Cook University, University of Canberra, University College London, University of Liverpool, University of Exeter, University of Hamburg and University of Geneva.

About the role

We are growing, with demand lifting for our services in the Australia and the UK. We also have expansion into other regions. We are looking for a researcher to join the team who can grow with us.

The role will involve project analysis (coding and analysing data using our qualitative analysis software), project preparation, research, producing reports, conducting and analysing interviews, running experience mapping and other administration (e.g. organising meetings, following up with clients etc).

Growth means change and adaptation. We constantly need to think about what is happening in the market and how our services need to adjust. We are looking for someone who will thrive in an environment like this. Because we are small and growing, your to‐do list will change often. We need someone who finds 'figuring it out' exciting rather than stressful.

We aren't a big company, with an IT department, a social club and ergonomic assessments of your desk. Because we don't have the layers of a big company, there are faster growth opportunities for the right person. We are innovative and will welcome your ideas and inputs - you will have the opportunity to shape your role. There will be national and international travel to meet with clients and visit universities.

We are looking for someone who is:

* Curious
* Tech savvy
* Adaptive to change

The details

* Suits someone with a degree or background in social science, urban design or related field.
* We process thousands of comments from students and staff, so we need someone highly proficient in English.
* The role is based in Perth and will be 4 days a week to start. This is not suitable as a remote role.
* We have a co‐working space in Fremantle where you will have a desk. It is flexible, you don't need to be in the office daily, but we will come together at least twice a week.
* This role is ideal for either a recent graduate or someone with a few years of experience and is looking to apply their skills in a meaningful, hands‐on way. It may also suit someone going through a career change, or returning to work after a break (but please note this is a junior role).
* We use software including PowerBI, Excel and InDesign to do our research – it is a bonus if you have experience in these (especially excel), but also OK if not - as long as you're a fast learner we will teach you the ropes.
* Because we are a small, agile team, we don't offer a traditional corporate ladder. Instead, we offer the opportunity to influence our methodology and shape your own role as we expand. We are looking for a long‐term team member who finds satisfaction in seeing their research change how campuses are built.
* Remuneration will be discussed on review of applications.
