OSHC (Outside School Hours Care) Co-ordinator (Before School Care, After School care and Vacation Care), is responsible for the safe, quality management and operation of an OSHC service, including developing and delivering programs for children, leading and supporting staff, tasks, and maintaining strong relationships with children, families, schools, and the wider community.
Key duties involve ensuring compliance with the National Quality Framework and Queensland legislation, promoting child safety, and fostering a positive and engaging environment. Key Responsibilities
* Service Leadership and Management: Help manage the day-to-day operations of the OSHC service, including staff, and ensuring compliance with policies and procedures.
* Program Development: Plan, implement, and evaluate engaging, safe, and educational programs for children that align with the My Time, Our Place framework, and oversee the delivery of before school care, after school care and school holiday programs.
* Child Safety and Wellbeing: Lead the implementation of robust child safety practices, including active supervision, mandatory reporting, and emergency procedures, to create a secure and nurturing environment.
* Community Engagement: Build and maintain strong relationships with children, families, school staff, and the community through effective communication and participation in school events.
* Administration and Compliance: Oversee enrolments, Ensure compliance with the National Quality Framework (NQF)
* Staff Support and Development: Provide professional support, coaching, and mentoring to OSHC educators, and ensuring they are aware of their responsibilities.
Essential Skills and Qualifications
* Qualifications: Tertiary qualifications in education (minimum Diploma), or a relevant field, and a current first aid certificate (including asthma and anaphylaxis) and Working with children check are essential. (Ability to obtain).
* Experience: Experience working in an OSHC environment, with demonstrated skills in supporting a team.
* Leadership & Communication: Highly effective leadership, people management, and communication skills to build positive relationships and resolve issues.
* Compliance Knowledge: A thorough understanding of the NQF, My Time, Our Place, and relevant Queensland legislation, including child protection and work health and safety
The role of anOSHC (Out of School Hours Care) Educator in our Before School Care, After School care and Vacation Care, supports the care, education, and well-being of children in a school-based program, assisting the OSHC Coordinator with daily operations, activity planning, program implementation, and administration.
* Key responsibilities include ensuring children's safety and engagement in activities, maintaining compliance with National Quality Framework requirements, communicating with parents, and fostering a positive and inclusive learning environment.
* Qualification- Cert 3, Early Childhood Education and Care, or an equivalent qualification or a willingness and ability to obtain. A current first aid certificate (including asthma and anaphylaxis), child protection and Working with children check are essential.
