We are seeking an experienced Archivist to safeguard and celebrate the rich history of Guildford Grammar School. In this role, you will curate and maintain an extensive collection of historical documents and artifacts—both physical and digital—that reflect the Schools heritage and evolving identity, ensuring that the stories of our past are not only preserved but shared and celebrated.
From digitising artifacts to developing oral histories and more, you will play a key role in ensuring that our heritage remains a living, evolving part of school life. This is a part-time, permanent position commencing as soon as possible. The required hours per week are 22.5, with the specific days and times to be agreed upon with the successful candidate.
Key Responsibilities
* Curate and promote a comprehensive collection of historical documents and artifacts, both physical and digital, showcasing the School's past and its evolving identity.
* Assist in presenting Museum materials and photographs during School events.
* Contribute articles regularly to School social media and publications and the Old Guildfordians.
* Oversee the digitisation of records for improved accessibility.
* Collaborate with staff responsible for digital records creation.
* Monitor records disposal and coordinate with authorised staff for proper destruction of archival materials.
About You
* Experience in the management of archives or cultural collections and their ongoing preservation, or a similar role would be desirable.
* The highest level of confidentiality and professional discretion.
* High, accurate attention to detail.
* Ability to use digital platforms for recording archival collection.
* Hold current Working with Children Check.
* Hold a current police clearance dated within the last 6 months.
* Proof of Right to Work in Australia.
* Respect the values, traditions and Anglican ethos of the School.
