Ecologist Leadership Opportunity
We are seeking a highly experienced Ecologist to take on a leadership role within our team. As a Principal or Lead Ecologist, you will be responsible for managing a range of projects across NSW and QLD, conducting fieldwork, and mentoring junior team members.

* You will oversee ecological projects from scoping and client interactions through to final commercial delivery.
A key aspect of this role is your ability to nurture professional relationships with clients across various sectors, including resources and infrastructure, government, and defense.
Key Responsibilities
* Manage a wide range of BDAR (Biodiversity Assessment and Reporting) and BSSAR (Biodiversity Stewardship Site Assessment and Reporting) projects.
* Conduct fieldwork as needed, including travel across various regions of New South Wales, Queensland, and Australia.
* Nurture professional relationships with clients spanning resources and infrastructure, government and defense, residential, and aviation sectors.
* Take on leadership and mentoring roles within the field of ecology, guiding and supporting fellow ecologists and fauna field team members.
* Oversee ecological projects from initial scoping and client interactions through field flora and fauna surveys to final commercial delivery.
* Prepare research materials, conduct analysis, perform field surveys, carry out impact assessments, secure approvals, and craft technical reports.
* Assist in creating submissions and proposals.
* Maintain a comprehensive understanding of environmental regulations at the Commonwealth, state, and local government levels, as well as relevant industry standards, practices, and approval procedures.
Requirements
* A degree in Ecology, Environmental Science, Botany, Zoology, or related field.
* Minimum 8 years of practical experience involving project management, field-based surveys, data analysis, and reporting, preferably with consulting experience.
* Willingness to primarily engage with a team dedicated to delivering Biodiversity Stewardship Site Assessments and offset strategies.
* Highly desirable skills in vegetation community identification and botanical expertise within the regions of NSW or QLD.
* Demonstrated ability to offer technical ecological guidance on diverse and large-scale projects, while also providing technical supervision to junior team members.
* Extensive experience in conducting ecological surveys within the NSW or QLD regions.
* Willingness to travel throughout NSW or QLD for fieldwork assignments.
* Eagerness to mentor junior team members.
