Selection Criteria
* SC1 Demonstrated knowledge of the relevant curriculum, including the ability to incorporate literacy and numeracy skills and respond to student learning needs.
* SC2 Demonstrated experience in planning and implementing high‑impact teaching strategies guided by how students learn, and evaluating the impact of learning and teaching programs on student growth.
* SC3 Demonstrated experience in monitoring and assessing student learning, using data to inform teaching practice, and providing feedback on growth and achievement to students and parents.
* SC4 Demonstrated interpersonal and communication skills and experience in establishing and maintaining collaborative relationships with students, parents, colleagues, and the broader school community.
* SC5 Demonstrated behaviours and attitudes consistent with Department values, and experience in reflecting on practice and engaging in professional learning to continually improve teaching quality.
Role
The classroom teacher classification comprises two salary ranges – range 1 and range 2. The primary focus is on the planning, preparation, and teaching of programs to achieve specific student outcomes. Teachers engage in critical reflection and inquiry to improve knowledge, skills, and student learning. As experience grows, contributions to the school program beyond classroom duties may be required, subject to salary range, qualifications, training and experience.
Classroom Teacher Range 2
Range 2 teachers play a significant role in improving student performance and educational outcomes, contributing to the development and implementation of school policies and priorities.
* Have the content knowledge and pedagogical practice to meet the diverse needs of all students.
* Model exemplary classroom practice; mentor/coach other teachers in reflective practice and expand teaching capacity.
* Provide expert advice on content, processes, and strategies that shape professional learning.
* Supervise and train one or more student teachers.
* Assist staff in using student data to inform teaching approaches and meet learning outcome targets.
Classroom Teacher Range 1
Primary focus is on developing skills to become an effective classroom practitioner with structured support from higher‑level teachers. Responsibilities include planning, preparing, and teaching across a range of subjects and classes, while supervising and training one or more student teachers.
* Participate in school policy development and program implementation.
* Focus on classroom management, subject content and teaching practice.
* New entrants receive mentoring, structured support, and participate in induction and ongoing professional learning.
* Assist in policy development, project teams, and co‑curricula organization.
Responsibilities
* Direct teaching of groups and individual students.
* Contribute to the development, implementation, and evaluation of curriculum areas or programmes.
* Undertake classroom‑related and organisational duties as directed by the Principal.
* Participate in parent/teacher meetings, staff meetings, camps and excursions.
* Undertake other non‑teaching supervisory duties.
Who May Apply
Teachers currently registered or eligible for registration with the Victorian Institute of Teaching and qualified to teach and/or with demonstrated experience in the specified curriculum area(s).

Qualification Requirements
* Must have provisional or full registration approved by the Victorian Institute of Teaching.
* If completed a postgraduate teacher education program on or after 1 January 2024, must demonstrate completion of an accredited program satisfying Australian Institute for Teaching and School Leadership standards.
* Graduates from a Victorian ITE program after 1 July 2016 must have met LANTITE requirements, if part of the ITE program.
