What's the role?
Operations Facilities Manager responsible for leading and overseeing data centre facility operations to ensure continuous, secure and efficient delivery of critical IT services for the Westpac Group. The role provides end‐to‐end ownership of facility operations, people leadership, vendor management and operational governance, while driving continuous improvement, compliance with safety and security standards, and strong collaboration with internal and external stakeholders to deliver high‐quality outcomes for customers.
Responsibilities
* Lead, manage and mentor a team of Facility Managers, ensuring capability development, high performance, and adherence to operational standards and change schedules.
* Own and manage data centre facility operations, including power, cooling, utilities, logistics, security and safety, ensuring 24/7 continuity of services and KPI compliance.
* Drive continuous improvement across facilities operations, processes and procedures, proactively identifying risks, efficiencies and site enhancements.
* Manage third‐party vendors and subcontractors to ensure effective maintenance of plant and mechanical systems, compliance with procedures, and delivery of preventative maintenance.
* Act as an ITSM advocate, using operational metrics and reporting to improve incident, change and capacity management while fostering strong stakeholder relationships and customer satisfaction.
Qualifications
* IT‐related Degree, Diploma or Certificate IV, with an electrical or mechanical background and familiarity with Australian building standards and compliance requirements.
* Experience in project management (advantageous) and at least 2‐4 years as a people leader or team coordinator within a 24x7 operational environment.
* Strong knowledge of data centre operations, including data cabling, cable management, facilities infrastructure and ITSM principles (ITIL v3 or v4 preferred).
* Excellent customer service and communication skills, with a proactive 'can‐do' attitude and the ability to self‐manage tasks to a high standard and within agreed timeframes.
* Proven ability to lead and collaborate within diverse delivery teams, working effectively with Infrastructure teams, Data Centre Design Authority, Engineering teams, strategic partners, suppliers and vendor management stakeholders.
