We're looking for an enthusiastic Mechanical Engineer to join our Laverton maintenance team and support the safe and reliable operation of our plant. This is a great opportunity for someone early in their career who wants to build strong hands‐on experience in industrial maintenance while learning from an experienced team.
In this role, you'll assist with day‐to‐day maintenance activities, contribute to plant reliability, and help ensure our operations run safely and efficiently.
Key Responsibilities
* Follow all requirements under the Occupational Health and Safety Act, relevant regulations, and Ixom's Safety Management System (SMS)
* Work closely with the maintenance team to support safe and cost‐effective maintenance activities
* Provide helpful and professional support to internal customers across the site
* Assist with maintenance tasks across the Laverton site to meet operational needs
* Apply established maintenance procedures to support safety, reliability, and budget goals
* Help monitor and maintain critical plant and equipment to ensure safe operation and compliance
* Contribute to improving plant reliability by helping identify and prevent repeat failures
* Use your mechanical engineering knowledge to support the development of maintenance plans
* Assist with small improvement or sustenance projects under guidance from senior engineers
* Provide input into maintenance planning and equipment upgrades where required
* Support the design and implementation of minor modifications to mechanical plant and equipment
Who Are We Looking For?
We're seeking someone who is eager to learn, safety‐focused, and ready to grow their technical skills in a hands‐on industrial environment. The ideal candidate will bring:
* Some experience or exposure to mechanical systems in industrial settings (chemical, manufacturing, oil & gas, or similar)
* A basic understanding of mechanical design principles and an interest in developing practical engineering solutions
* The ability to work collaboratively with a range of people across the site
* An interest in learning about regulatory frameworks, including Major Hazard Facility (MHF) requirements
* A developing understanding of mechanical design standards and industry codes
* A commitment to safe systems of work, including permits, incident reporting, and hazard identification
* A Bachelor of Engineering (Mechanical) or equivalent qualification
