Our client is a prestigious private school in Melbourne's western suburbs. Currently they are seeking a Qualified Groundsperson to join their team.
Reporting to the Head of Grounds your key focus will be the maintenance and beautification of the school gardens, grounds and sporting facilities. Your duties will include, but not be limited to:
- Assist with landscape maintenance, restoration, and design
- Install and cultivate functional and ornamental plants
- Transplant and prune shrubs and small trees
- Weed landscape beds and assist with mulching
- Identify and treat potential pests or diseases
- Provide plant care advice to other team members and clients
- Herbicide spraying
- Fertilising lawn areas
- Cleaning paths
- Construction & Maintenance of Irrigation systems for Garden beds and lawn areas
- General landscaping duties.
- Traffic Management Duties
- Responsible for maintaining, scheduled servicing, in accordance with documented processes for Plant and equipment.
- Assisting/directing contractors and trades across sites
- Closing off on work orders
- Closing off on trade works
- Permitting of trade works e.g. hot works, working at heights other
To be considered for this position you will need:
- Bachelor's degree in horticulture or a related field (or equivalent experience)
- Chemical Users Certificate
- Experience in landscaping or working with various types of plants
- Manual vehicle licence
- Medium Rigid Licence
- Current Working with Children Check, or willingness to get one
- Current COVID-19 Vaccinations
- EWP Licence (desirable)
- Comfortable working outside in various weather conditions
- Eye for detail
