The OpportunityThe Engagement Officer plays a pivotal role in supporting the NIAA to work in genuine partnership and enable self-determination of First Nations Communities. The job is crucial in building collaborative relationships with First Nations People and communities to ensure effective policy implementation that aligns to the aspirations of First Nations Communities. Delivering high‐quality services to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Communities, through effective management of daily activities and collaborative leadership, is critical to the success of the role. By fostering strong internal and external relationships, especially with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander stakeholders, and providing expert guidance and constructive feedback, the Engagement Officer contributes to business improvement and upholds a healthy, ethical workplace aligned with APS standards. The role is essential for ensuring high‐quality service delivery and successful project execution within the branch, benefiting both the team and the communities they serve.
This position is part of the place‐based team located in Toowoomba. The South Queensland Region (SQR) and Toowoomba sub‐region cover communities including Charleville, Cunnamulla, Goondiwindi and Cherbourg. Work travel is required as part of the Engagement Officer role, and additional travel to other NIAA sites across the network including Canberra may be required.
