About the Role

The National Security team is seeking an experienced Security Capability Specialist to join their ranks. This individual will play a central role in shaping and growing the department's security capability, working closely with various teams and external stakeholders to deliver all aspects of security functions.

Key Responsibilities:

* Lead the management of secure communication and resource requirements for the department.
* Provide expert advice on protective security, national security, and intelligence matters to relevant stakeholders.
* Undertake security risk assessments to ensure the department's assets are safeguarded.
* Maintain and update departmental protective security governance documents and guidelines based on the Protective Security Policy Framework (PSPF).
* Liaise with internal and external agencies to ensure seamless collaboration and information sharing.
* Develop and deliver security briefs and training programs to enhance staff knowledge and capabilities.

Requirements:

* Demonstrated experience in performing COMSO or similar roles, with a strong understanding of the PSPF and its application in APS environments.
* Extensive experience in protective security and/or risk management, with the ability to undertake and deliver security risk assessments.
* Knowledge of electronic security systems, including Electronic Access Control Systems (EACS) and electronic key safes.
* Proven track record of working in protective security/risk management environments within public sector agencies or equivalent.

Desirable Qualifications:

* Qualifications or experience as a COMSO or in Security, Law Enforcement, or Intelligence-related fields would be highly regarded.
