About Us: Roper Gulf Regional Council delivers a wide range of municipal and community services within one of the most remote areas of the Northern Territory. Spanning 201,000 square kilometers, the Council's operational footprint is one of the largest in the NT, covering regions from Kakadu to the Gulf of Carpentaria, including five Wards: Never Never, Numbulwar - Numburindi, Nyirranggulung, South West Gulf, and Yugul Mangi. Established on 1 July 2008 from the amalgamation of smaller councils and unincorporated land, it was renamed Roper Gulf Regional Council in January 2009.

About You: You should have at least a diploma or equivalent in media management or communications, a current First Aid Certificate or willingness to obtain one, and be an Australian resident or hold a relevant visa (RGRC does not sponsor). A recent Criminal History Check (within three months), a current Northern Territory 'C' Class Drivers Licence with manual capacity, and a Working with Children Clearance (OCHRE Card) or exemption are required.

Position Summary: This role involves promoting the Council through managing media channels to keep constituents and stakeholders informed about Council decisions and activities.

Key Requirements include: three years of relevant media/communications experience, strong marketing and creative communication skills, excellent writing and website management abilities, organizational and interpersonal skills, media networking experience, and proficiency in Microsoft Office. Desirable qualifications include a Bachelor Degree in Media Management and experience in public service.

Job Responsibilities:

* Develop and implement a Communications Strategy to promote Council activities and decisions.
* Build relationships with media and stakeholders, prepare media releases, and maintain media networks.
* Manage Council's online presence and internal communication methods.
* Participate in promotional events and manage social media activities.

Work Health and Safety: Ensure safety in the workplace by adhering to WHS policies, identifying risks, and reporting hazards or incidents.
