About the opportunity
The new Workplace Operations team works closely with professional and academic colleagues to ensure the University meets its operational compliance obligations in relation to casual academics.
The team drives continuous improvement, embeds consistent best-practice processes and frameworks, and oversees operational compliance across all faculties and business areas—ensuring cohesive, rigorous standards and that casual academic staff are paid accurately in line with University policies and procedures and legislative requirements.
The Casual Academic Administration Manager provides strategic and operational leadership for the University's casual academic planning to pay program, leading a specialist team to ensure compliant, consistent and timely delivery of HR policies, processes and governance.
Reporting to the Associate Director, Workplace Operations, the role partners with central and faculty stakeholders to provide expert policy and enterprise agreement advice, manage complex escalations, drive continuous improvement, and deliver robust reporting and systems alignment that support workforce planning and compliance across the University.
Your key responsibilities will be to:
lead a team delivering compliant casual academic employment from planning to pay
provide expert advice on employment frameworks, policy and legislation
embed strong governance, controls and continuous improvement practices
partner with stakeholders to align workforce planning, systems and processes
deliver reporting and insights to support workforce and compliance decisions
develop team capability through effective people leadership.
About you
proven people leader with experience managing teams in complex operational or HR environments
strong knowledge of employment legislation, enterprise agreements and workforce compliance frameworks
experience delivering operational programs, improving processes and embedding governance and controls
confident stakeholder partner able to build trusted relationships and influence outcomes
strong analytical skills with the ability to turn workforce data into practical insights
highly organised, adaptable and service focused, with a continuous improvement mindset.
