About the Role
As a Youth Worker, you will:
Be part of a professional team working collaboratively with the school and community, working with students, teachers, parents, guidance officers, special needs staff, administrative officers, welfare agencies, and other government departments.
Work in a physically active support role across the school to support student regulation. Co-regulating with students utilising strategies like 'walk and talks', movement or thought breaks, modelling 'Ready to Learn' strategies, supervising a regulation space and ensuring a safe and supportive school environment.
Monitor student attendance as a means of identifying those experiencing difficulties and enable early intervention before issues escalate.
Forge strong links between the school and families of students with persistent absenteeism, encouraging ongoing engagement in education and future planning.
Identify and provide targeted assistance to students facing challenges at school or home that may place them at risk of disengagement.
About You
Strong ability to build relationships with students, families, and stakeholders to promote engagement and wellbeing.
Experience working with young people who may be experiencing social, emotional, or behavioural challenges.
Knowledge of relevant policies, procedures, and programs to support student attendance and engagement.
Excellent problem-solving, communication (verbal and written), and organisational skills.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team to implement support strategies effectively.
Proficiency in record-keeping, data entry, and maintaining accurate documentation.
Understanding of community services and referral pathways that can provide additional support to students and families.
