Laboratory Technician (Entry Level Role)

Yakult Australia is a global leader in probiotics, manufacturing and marketing the unique fermented milk drink 'Yakult'. Sales have grown substantially in Australia since 1994. We operate in all states of Australia, with our head office and state-of-the-art manufacturing plant located in Dandenong South, Victoria.
We currently have a full-time opportunity for an Entry Level Laboratory Technician to join our team. The successful candidate will undertake a broad range of routine operations associated with quality assurance. This position is a 12-month, full-time contract, with the possibility of permanency at the end of the 12-month period.
Working Hours
The successful candidate will be required to work on a weekly rotating roster between the hours of 6:00am and 6:00pm, Monday to Friday (7.6 hours per day, 38 hours per week).
Occasional paid overtime and weekend work may be required.
Salary
The base salary for this position is $58,164.74 per annum, plus superannuation.
Duties will include, but are not limited to:
* Basic microbiological and chemical testing experience
* Preparation of laboratory reagents and media
* Fermentation work and flavor preparation
* Seed room activities (including assembling and cleaning equipment, preparing raw materials, etc.)
* Placebo work
* Maintenance, preparation, and cleaning of all laboratory equipment
* Monitoring and ordering general laboratory supplies
* Monitoring QA standards through production process
* Daily laboratory housekeeping and cleaning
* Assist in the production area in a "hands on" capacity as and when required
* Occasional heavy lifting, up to 20kg
The successful candidate will be self motivated, and capable of working autonomously with limited supervision.
Previous Laboratory experience (via work and/or study) is essential.
