About the role
As a Senior Specialist Family Violence Practitioner (Person using Violence), you will provide intensive, innovative and holistic short‐term interventions to persons using violence with a strong focus on risk and behaviour change. You will be embedded within the Victoria Police Ballarat Family Violence Investigation Unit (FVIU) and report to the Team Leader. This fixed‐term full‐time position is contracted for 12 months and based in Ballarat, VIC.
Key Responsibilities
* Identify and assess immediate family violence risk using MARAM‐aligned frameworks, prioritising the safety of victim survivors and children
* Conduct intake, triage and dynamic assessments as the first point of contact in a high‐risk policing environment
* Co‐review incidents with Victoria Police to support coordinated, integrated and timely responses
* Deliver short‐term case coordination including safety‐focused interventions and escalation of risk concerns
* Engage men using violence through respectful, non‐judgemental, trauma‐informed practice that upholds accountability and behaviour change
* Maintain high‐quality documentation including risk assessments, case notes and reporting aligned with TSA and legislative requirements
Conditions and Compensation
Compensation is in accordance with the Social, Community, Home Care and Disability Services Industry Award (SCHADS) Level6. This is a fixed‐term full‐time position for 12 months.
Qualifications
* Tertiary qualifications in Social Work, Psychology or equivalent, aligned with mandatory minimum qualifications (Rec209)
* At least five years of case management experience with family violence experience highly desirable
* Strong understanding of the gendered nature of family violence, intersectionality, child development and trauma
* Ability to work effectively with men using violence, maintaining boundaries, risk focus and accountability
* Experience working in multi‐disciplinary, integrated service models
* A current Employee Working With Children Check
* A current VIC Drivers Licence
* Willingness to undergo Victoria Police Security Checks
