THE POSITION:
Our client who is based in Sydney is seeking a Provisional Fellow in Anaesthetics to join their busy team commencing from February 2024.
This position is to provide a high level of anaesthetic services to the surgical, obstetric, radiology, psychiatry, gastroenterology endoscopy and analgesia services to the labour ward and acute pain services within this public teaching hospital.
The Provisional Fellowship program in this hospital includes specific subspecialty roles in Airway management, Cardiothoracic anaesthesia and Simulation medicine.
THE HOSPITAL:
The hospital which has approximately 500+ beds is a major public teaching hospital providing comprehensive care within Sydney, they offer specialty services including major trauma, severe burns, spinal cord injuries, neonatal intensive care, neurosurgery along with acute medical, surgical, mental health, paediatric, cancer and maternity services.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES, ACTIVITIES, AND DUTIES:
- Provide anaesthetic services to Intensive Care, Pain Medicine and Preoperative Assessments in order to provide high level patient care whilst developing competence required for independent practice in general anaesthesia.
- Acts as a role model in providing customer service, and provides high level of service to patients, families, and colleagues.
- Ensures clinical skills are current and up to date and continually seeks to further improve yourself.
- Ensures all documentation provides an accurate account of the patient's event of care.
- Maintains confidentiality and utilizes appropriate channels of communication when dealing with patient and staff issues.
- Conduct research activities, to acquire the knowledge and skills required to critically assess research literature and to become a productive investigator.
- Teach other clinical staff, to ensure an optimal learning environment, promote growth and development of others, and to demonstrate teaching competence.
- Supervise other clinical staff, to enable them to develop the competence and knowledge required for responsible practice, to ensure quality patient care and treatment, promote team building and a supportive environment, enhance their performance and monitor their welfare.
ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Eligible for registration as a Medical Practitioner with APRHA.
- Completion of four years of accredited ANZCA Training.
- Successful completion of all training and ANZCA examinations requirements
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively as part of a multi-disciplinary team.
- Ability to work a 24/7 rotating roster including weekends, nights, and public holidays.
- Evidence of involvement in continuing professional development.
- Proven ability to apply theoretical knowledge and experience in determining the appropriate clinical diagnosis, investigations, and treatment of patients.
- Proven reliability in work within personal level of expertise and seeking assistance as needed from senior staff.
