A respected and growing project advisory firm is seeking an experienced Project Cost Controller to support major infrastructure programs across the water, environment, and energy sectors. The Opportunity
You will work closely with Project Managers, the regional finance team, and senior stakeholders to support the planning, monitoring, and reporting of complex projects. The role is primarily delivery-focused, gathering data, producing accurate cost reports, and forecasting resource utilisation. About 70% of your time will be dedicated to a large-scale government engagement, with exposure to other regional projects.
This position is an initial 3-month contract, with strong potential for extension or conversion to a permanent role for the right candidate.
Key Responsibilities
Track, report, and forecast project costs across multiple infrastructure projects
Support regional financial performance reporting and invoicing
Build cost models and forecasts tailored to the needs of different projects
Collaborate with Project Managers to track resources, effort, and utilisation
Maintain accurate project documentation, including accruals, variance analysis, and month-end reporting
Produce consistent, accurate, and timely reporting for stakeholders
Use project scheduling tools (Primavera P6) to align cost tracking with project milestones
Communicate effectively with both internal teams and clients
About You
To succeed in this role, you will be confident, highly organised, and detail-oriented, with strong Excel and cost reporting skills. You will also enjoy working in a collaborative, friendly, and consultative environment and have the ability to adapt reporting for different project requirements.
Mandatory Skills & Experience:
Advanced Excel skills and confidence in cost reporting
Strong communication skills; able to build connections with Project Managers and finance teams
Minimum 8 years' experience in project cost control or project controls roles
Comfortable working across both greenfield and brownfield infrastructure projects
Experience with Primavera P6 or similar scheduling tools
Nice-to Have:
Government infrastructure experience
Exposure to water, energy, or environmental projects
Experience with high-volume project transactions and multi-project reporting
