Northern NSW has a vacancy for a news editor to lead a team of digital local news reporters across Northern NSW. We are looking for a passionate and energetic news leader who wants to take their career to the next level.
Our reporters are embedded in the communities they serve and need an engaged manager to provide mentoring and coaching. The National Community Network has the fastest growing audience inside News Corp Australia and we are looking for a news editor to build on our current strengths. If you have a strong news sense, with good editing skills, an understanding of digital reporting excellence, and are an adaptable mentor, we'd love to hear from you.
**What's the role?**
- Mentor and drive a team across regional NSW to break exclusive articles that tell the stories of the area they cover.
- You will understand how reason and meaning is important to keeping a hungry journalist motivated while also being able to help guide them to ensure their articles find an online audience.
- Partner with the National Community Masthead Network Editor and the senior leadership team to strategically plan and manage transformations and operations
- Drive the news content, conversation and agenda setting of your region
- Use of analytics to identify trends, topics, news stories, ideas and innovations
- Understand and continue to stress the importance of community news within the media landscape
- Increase social following and engagement, UAs and brand awareness
- Develop strategies to ensure that digital journalism continues to lead and drive subscription growth
- Commercially minded, you will assist the leadership team to make important business decisions that will shape the way the National Community Network works, grows and shifts
- Use your editorial skill sets to ensure a high quality of content is pushed out across all platforms and publications

- Strong understanding of SEO and adept at using social media for story generation
- Able to work in a fast-paced work environment and handle multiple deadlines
