This position will be offered on a part time or casual basis to help provide flexibility for you around your current study or personal situation, whilst still ensuring you are supported, can gain recent skills, and strengthen existing ones. This would ideally suit someone who is keen to explore both the Civil design (work that sits at the surface) and Structural design (work raised off the ground needing support and stability) side of these major projects.
In South Australia, GHD are working on Transport projects which will improve how people travel for work, gain access to services, and generally improve traffic flow across the region. Through this work, we are providing opportunities for people looking to take their first step into this industry or reskill from other jobs and work towards a career in the **design **side of these projects, specifically using software to create technical drawings for roads, bridges & highways.
**Key responsibilities will include**:
- Being trained in the use of computer software, like AutoCAD, to assist in the preparation of drawings for work such as highways, local roads, intersections, drainage, bridges & retaining walls
- Working with more experienced members of GHD's Design team to help grow your knowledge and support you with any questions you may have
- Working your way through GHD's software systems and technical training
- If continuing or starting TAFE courses to help improve your skills, ensuring you're balancing your study and work requirements
**We're looking for someone who**:
- Has an interest in Engineering or Construction, but may also want to blend their interest in computers or software into their work
- Someone who communicates well and is comfortable to learn from more experienced people while on the job
- Intermediate computer skills, even an interest in coding could prove beneficial
- Would be open to either continuing with or starting a TAFE course to help improve their skills.
- Is in Year 12 (and completing this year) studying Maths and English, a recent high school graduate or a mature aged person looking to get their foot in the door
