About the Role:
Reporting to the Operations Manager, you will be instrumental in ensuring the efficient and safe operation of our yard. Your primary focus will be on optimising material and equipment management, overseeing vehicle and equipment maintenance, managing inventory, and strategically allocating resources to meet project demands while minimising costs and maximising productivity.
Key Responsibilities:
Strategic Planning & Improvement:
Develop and manage the Ecoscape yard's operational schedule for staff, equipment, inventory, and deliveries.
Forecast future resource needs based on project timelines and seasonal variations.
Proactively seek and implement industry best practices to enhance efficiency.
Cultivate strong, collaborative relationships with our valued suppliers.
Continuously identify and implement improvements in fleet service and inventory management.
Motivate and inspire your team to achieve their full potential.
Foster a positive, collaborative, and high-performing work environment.
Champion a culture of continual improvement across all yard & fleet operations.
Yard Operations & Logistics:
Optimise yard space for efficient storage and movement of materials and equipment.
Oversee comprehensive inventory control, including stock monitoring, forecasting, receiving, stocktakes, and ordering.
Coordinate the timely delivery of materials and services from subcontractors and suppliers, working closely with Project Managers for site logistics.
Implement and manage effective waste disposal and recycling programs.
Ensure the security and safety of the yard and its contents.
Vehicle & Equipment Management:
Manage all aspects of vehicle and equipment maintenance and repair, including preventative measures and coordinating with external service providers to ensure operational readiness and minimise costs.
Ensure all drivers and operators are thoroughly trained and competent in operating vehicles and equipment safely and effectively.
Safety & Compliance:
Implement and rigorously enforce all company safety policies and procedures, including PPE requirements, conducting regular safety meetings and inspections (daily walks, weekly meetings), and ensuring full compliance with relevant regulations and best practices. Quality Control & Performance:
Ensure all work performed by your team and subcontractors meets Ecoscape Solutions' high-quality standards and project specifications. Address and escalate any quality issues promptly. We Never Settle for "Good Enough" in our pursuit of excellence.
Team Management & Communication:
Provide clear daily instructions and schedule updates to yard staff, ensuring everyone understands their responsibilities.
Develop and maintain strong, positive relationships with clients, subcontractors, and suppliers, embodying our value of Grow Together.

About You (Essential Requirements):
Proven experience as a Fleet Manager or similar role.
Demonstrated ability to lead, manage, and motivate teams.
Mechanical/fabrication/fitting skills will be advantageous
Competent in the use of computers, technology devices, and associated software programs.
Excellent planning, organisational, and problem-solving skills.
Knowledge of relevant Safe Operating Procedures (SOPs) for plant and equipment is essential
Minimum of an MR (Medium Rigid) driver's licence.
Current SafeWork NSW White Card (or equivalent).
