BAJWA GURTEJ SINGH t / an Indian Diamond Restaurant is looking for a dedicated and experienced Chef to join their team.
Roles and responsibilities
- Assist the Head Chef in planning and preparing a variety of authentic Indian dishes, including curries, tandoori items, biryanis, breads, and regional specialties.
- Participate in menu planning and contribute creative ideas for seasonal specials and new dishes that align with customer preferences and current trends.
- Prepare, cook, and present dishes with consistency in flavour, portion, and presentation across lunch and dinner services.
- Ensure correct seasoning, temperature control, and portioning for all meals prepared.
- Support the Head Chef in maintaining quality standards and workflow within the kitchen, especially during busy service periods.
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organised kitchen workplace in compliance with food safety and hygiene standards.
- Monitor inventory levels, check deliveries, and assist with stock rotation and proper storage of ingredients.
- Train, guide, and supervise junior kitchen staff to maintain consistency in preparation and presentation.
- Work closely with front-of-house staff to ensure timely service and smooth coordination between kitchen and dining areas.
- Report any operational or quality issues to the Head Chef or Restaurant Manager and suggest improvements where appropriate.
- Adhere to workplace health and safety practices and contribute to a positive and collaborative team culture.
- Minimise food wastage through effective portion control and ingredient management.
Qualifications and Skills
- Certificate IV level qualification or equivalent in the relevant field.
- 3 years of recent experience in a chef role.
- be legally entitled to work in Australia
- Expertise in culinary techniques, menu development, and current food trends.
- Knowledge of Indian cuisine is an advantage.
- Strong team management skills.
- Comprehensive understanding of food hygiene and safety regulations.
- Ability to perform well under pressure and manage multiple tasks.
- Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and public holidays.
Salary range: $74,000 - $80,000
