Role Description
The role of a Casual Participation Assistant is available in the Student Accessibility and Equity team. The position involves providing personalized support to students with various aspects of their academic studies and/or training.
Key responsibilities include:
* Offering one-to-one support in study skills, time management, assessment planning, and organizational strategies.
* Supporting students in developing effective academic literacy skills, including note-taking and reading strategies.
* Providing support in using assistive technology to improve accessibility for students.
* Offering invigilation and scribing support for students with approved exam adjustments.
* Assisting VET students with in-class learning activities.
* Providing learning support to students during residential schools.
* Working under the guidance of an Accessibility Consultant to help students achieve their academic and personal goals.
Required Skills and Qualifications
To be successful in this role, you will require:
* Completion of at least 6 units or 1 year of successful VET or Higher Education studies (GPA of 5 or above).
* Experience in supporting students in an educational environment.
* Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to support diverse student needs.
* Organizational skills and proficiency in basic technology, including assistive tools and software.
* Ability to work flexibly, maintain confidentiality, and demonstrate empathy and professionalism.
