The Opportunity
NNSWLHD is seeking a FAChPM accredited Specialist in Palliative Medicine to take on the pivotal role of Medical Lead - Palliative Medicine, NNSWLHD.
This is a strategic leadership position, accountable for shaping governance, driving quality improvement and fostering cultural change across Palliative Medicine Services district-wide. It is a rare opportunity to influence care models and outcomes at a system level.
The Medical Lead will provide district-wide clinical governance and strategic leadership for Palliative Medicine services, working in partnership with the Nurse Manager End of Life Services NNSWLHD and will clinically report to the Director Medical Services and operationally report to the General Manager Community and Allied Health.

What You Will Be Doing
Working in collaboration with the Nurse Manager End of Life Services NNSWLHD to provide expert professional, operational and strategic leadership for the Medical Practitioners working in the Specialist Palliative Care Service (SPCS), to facilitate excellent patient and family centered care.
Leading and managing the medical staff within the SPCS, providing contemporary comprehensive best practice
specialist services for optimal patient outcomes. Providing leadership that optimises multidisciplinary and interdepartmental cooperation, to efficiently and effectively allocate and manage resources for best patient care.

Location
The Northern NSW Local Health District extends from Tweed Heads in the north, to Tabulam and Urbenville in the west, and to Nymboida and Grafton in the south. We provide acute healthcare services in eight hospitals, and four Multi-Purpose Services (MPS). Our hospitals are located at: Ballina, Byron, Casino, Grafton, Lismore, Maclean, Murwillumbah and Tweed Heads. Our MPS facilities are located at: Bonalbo, Kyogle, Nimbin, Urbenville.

Selection Criteria
* Eligible for registration with the Medical Board of Australia as a Specialist Palliative Medicine Physician, and/or overseas trained specialist pathways.
* Extensive specialist palliative care experience and comprehensive knowledge of NSW Health Role Delineation of Clinical Services Framework, and Palliative Care Australia’s Palliative Care Service Guidelines.
* Demonstrated clinical leadership and workforce management experience in a complex public health organisation.
* Superior interpersonal skills with ability to build and maintain effective collaborative relationships, to network and engage, collaborate with and influence key stakeholders to achieve business objectives.
* Demonstrated experience in clinical governance quality and compliance processes, and in leading innovation or quality improvement initiatives.
* Comprehensive understanding of medical training accreditation processes, and proven experience in the development, growth and delivery of interprofessional education and training.
* Availability to participate in an on-call roster and to respond on site within a reasonable time.
* Valid unrestricted drivers' licence for use in NSW/Australia and willingness to travel in the course of employment within NNSWLHD.
