**The Role**
As the Configuration Officer, you will provide configuration knowledge to support technical and engineering activities and ensure quality and compliance with appropriate delegations commensurate with relevant legislative, policy and regulatory frameworks. Engage with stakeholders, investigate, report, develop, evaluate, advise, and implement policies, processes, procedures, practice and manage resources specific to assurance and data specifications to support Defence capability. You will be accountable under broad direction to perform and achieve complex technical configuration work and accountable to ensure you have knowledge of and compliance with legislative frameworks, government decision-making and Defence's mission and policy requirements.
Tasks include, but are not limited to:
- Demonstrated ability to assess and review technical packages and provide recommendations for continuous improvement and implement corrective actions.
- Demonstrated understanding of the main attributes and limitations of the Configuration and Maintenance Management tools to support configuration management processes including fitted equipment management, work & resource management, condition/performance monitoring, decision support tools.
- Demonstrate appropriate use of information systems in delivering asset lifecycle outputs.
- Understands how the asset management strategy has been used to determine what asset knowledge is needed and can explain the linkage.
- Demonstrated understanding of the processes required to manage documentary information collection, updating, storage and dissemination, data collection, reporting tools and techniques. Can prepare reports and can recognise anomalies in reported data.
**About our Team**
The Collins Submarine Program within CASG is responsible for the maintenance and programmed upgrade of Australia's Collins Class submarines. The Program works in partnership with the Royal Australian Navy and Industry to deliver the strategic submarine capability to the nation. Configuration management is a process for establishing and maintaining consistency of a product's performance, functional, and physical attributes with its requirements, design, and operational information through management of baselines and change control. The Collins Class Configuration Management Plan is managed and authorised by the Collins Authorised Material Seaworthiness Delivery Organisation and underpins the processes and principles by which Configuration Management will be applied across the submarine community, applied by all organisations conducting design, maintenance, validation, verification or design assurance across the submarine community.
