Job Overview
The Biosecurity Plant and Science Services Division is responsible for safeguarding Australia's plant health status, achieving, maintaining, and expanding overseas markets while protecting the economy and environment. The division consists of four branches focusing on scientific analysis, technical advice, facilitating the safe importation of plants and plant products, improving systems, market access, capacity building, stakeholder engagement, diagnostics, biosecurity risk advice, biosecurity training, surveillance, and response at points of entry and approved sites nationally.
The position supports the First Assistant Secretary by overseeing division activities and providing support and advice to the executive. This involves coordinating reporting, monitoring briefing and communication materials, and liaising with divisional staff.
Key Responsibilities:
* Preparing, managing, and reviewing high-level communications and correspondence, including briefings, reports, submissions, and notes, ensuring quality and timeliness.
* Collaborating with the Executive Assistant, leadership, and stakeholders to identify emerging issues, prioritize requests, and ensure responses meet deadlines and standards.
* Providing issues management support to address emerging issues effectively with minimal risk.
* Leading and contributing to projects supporting strategic and operational objectives.
* Supporting team members, including providing backup for divisional coordination and the executive assistant during leave periods.
